PERSONALIZED CRAFTSMANSHIP
Custom Passport Holder
A passport holder is a small object that gets used at the most stressful moments of a trip. That is precisely why the details matter. The generic version holds one passport and two cards, which is fine until you are travelling with a partner and children, or until you want your boarding pass, currency and a spare card in the same place, or until you find that the holder does not fit your country's passport properly because it was cut for a different one.
Small leather goods are also where custom is at its most accessible. There are no body measurements to take and no fit risk — only decisions about layout, leather and what you want stamped on it.
Configurations people ask for
- Single passport, minimal. A slim cover with one or two card slots. Slips into a jacket pocket without bulking it out.
- Passport plus wallet. Multiple card slots, a note compartment for foreign currency, and a slip pocket for boarding passes.
- Family holder. Two, three or four passport pockets in one case, so nobody is hunting through bags at a desk. This is the configuration you simply cannot buy off the shelf.
- Travel document folio. Larger, taking passports alongside folded printouts, a pen and a vaccination card.
- Pair or set. Two matching holders with different initials — a common wedding or anniversary request.
The specification
Passport size. Tell us which country's passport, or measure yours. Most follow a similar standard, but there is enough variation that it is worth confirming rather than assuming.
Interior layout. Number of passport pockets, card slots and their arrangement, whether you want a note compartment, a pen loop, a SIM or memory-card pocket, or a slip for tickets.
Closure. Open bifold, an elastic or leather strap, a snap, or a zip around the edge if you want everything genuinely secured.
Leather and colour. Full-grain, top-grain, lambskin, goatskin, cowhide or suede, in your colour. A holder is small enough that a bolder colour is easy to live with — and considerably easier to find in a bag.
Lining and stitching. Interior material and colour, plus contrast stitching if you want the edge to stand out.
Personalisation. Initials or a name, on the front or discreetly inside. For a set, each piece can carry its own.
Choosing the leather for something this small
A passport holder spends its life in pockets and bags, rubbing against other things, and it is handled at exactly the moments your hands are warm and hurried. Scuff resistance and how it ages matter more than softness.
Full-grain is the natural choice. On a piece this small the patina develops quickly and visibly — within a year or two it looks unmistakably like yours. Goatskin has a fine pebbled grain that hides marks beautifully and stays supple in a folded piece. Cowhide gives a firmer, more structured cover that resists bending. Lambskin is the softest and most luxurious in the hand, though it marks more easily than the others. Suede is lovely to hold and the least forgiving of a wet day. Our types of leather guide compares them properly.
How your passport holder is made
- Message us via contact with the configuration you want, how many passports it needs to hold, and any monogramming.
- We confirm the spec, including exact interior layout and where personalisation sits.
- You approve. The leather is cut and the piece is handcrafted.
- It ships in about 3–5 weeks for made-to-order pieces. US delivery costs nothing on express; international shipping is worked out during checkout.
One practical note if this is a gift: build the 3–5 week window into your planning, and add a margin. Personalised pieces cannot be rushed at the end, and a monogrammed item is not something we can substitute at short notice. If you are ordering for a specific date, tell us the date when you first get in touch so we can be honest about whether it is realistic.
Worth knowing for your passport holder
Can a personalised holder be returned?
No, and it is important to be clear before you order. Stock items carry our standard 7-day return window, but a monogrammed or made-to-spec piece is made for one person and follows different terms — we work on correction and alteration rather than refund. Check the spelling of initials carefully at the confirmation stage; that is the moment to catch a mistake.
Will it fit my passport?
Yes, provided you tell us which passport. If you travel on two, say so and we will size the pockets for the larger.
Does it block RFID?
Ask when you enquire rather than assuming. We would rather tell you plainly what a piece does and does not include than have you discover it afterwards.
Is the guarantee the same on small goods?
We stand behind the stitching permanently. More on how they are made at craftsmanship.
