PERSONALIZED CRAFTSMANSHIP

Custom Motorcycle Jackets

A motorcycle jacket has to fit a body that is leaning forward, arms extended, shoulders rolled - not a body standing straight in a changing room. That mismatch is why so many riders end up with a jacket that feels fine on the hanger and then rides up at the back, pulls across the shoulders, and leaves a cold gap at the wrists at speed. Off-the-rack sizing also assumes a fairly narrow range of proportions. If you have long arms, a broad back and a slim waist, a short torso, or you want room for a base layer without swimming in the jacket, a made-to-measure build is the honest answer.

Where a bespoke build actually helps

  • Riding posture - sleeve length measured with arms forward, and back length cut so the hem stays put when you tuck in.
  • Shoulder and bicep room - enough movement to reach the bars without excess bulk flapping.

Your specification

  • Silhouette - asymmetric biker, cafe racer, classic double-rider, bomber-cut riding jacket, or a longer touring-style body.
  • Leather and weight - heavier hide for abrasion and structure, lighter for comfort and warm-weather riding.
  • Collar - snap-down band, notch lapel, stand collar, or a shearling-trimmed collar for winter.
  • Zips and hardware - brand, tooth size, and finish in silver, gunmetal, brass or black.
  • Pockets - angled hand warmers, zipped chest, internal document or phone pockets, and a wallet pocket sized to what you actually carry.
  • Lining - quilted for warmth, plain for summer, or removable if you ride year-round.

Measuring for a riding fit

Measure over the thickest layer you will realistically wear underneath, and have someone else hold the tape - self-measuring the back and shoulders is where errors creep in. You will need chest at the fullest point, waist, shoulder-to-shoulder across the back, sleeve length, and back length from the base of the neck to where you want the hem to sit. For a motorcycle jacket, take the sleeve measurement with your arm bent and reaching forward as if on the bars, not hanging at your side; that one change accounts for most riding-fit complaints. Our step-by-step guide to measuring for a leather jacket walks through each one, and if a number looks inconsistent when it reaches us, we will query it before anything is cut.

Choosing leather for your moto jacket

Cowhide is the traditional riding leather: thick, tough, structured, and it earns its character slowly. It is the heaviest option and takes real wear to break in. Goatskin is a strong alternative - genuinely durable but more supple from day one and lighter to wear, which suits riders who find cowhide stiff. Lambskin is soft and beautiful but light; choose it for a style-led jacket rather than a hard-use riding one, and we will tell you so if your brief points elsewhere. Full-grain hides keep the natural surface and age best. If you are weighing these up, lambskin vs cowhide vs sheepskin is the most useful comparison we have.

Process and timing

  1. Send your measurements and describe the jacket, including reference images if you have them.
  2. We confirm the full specification back to you and flag anything that needs a decision.
  3. The jacket is cut and handcrafted to that spec. Seam stitching is guaranteed indefinitely.
  4. It ships - typically about 3-5 weeks for made-to-measure. Express shipping comes free with US orders, and international rates are set at checkout.

Moto jacket questions, answered

Can I return a custom jacket? for your moto jacket

Our 7-day return window covers standard-size orders. A jacket cut to your measurements is made for you alone, so custom orders are resolved through alteration rather than refund. If something is off when it arrives, contact us and we will put it right. See shipping and returns for the full terms.

Is a custom jacket protective gear?

We build in leather, and heavy hide is inherently abrasion-resistant, but we do not make safety claims or certify jackets to any protective standard. If certification matters to you, buy purpose-tested gear.
