Custom Bomber Jackets
The bomber is the least forgiving jacket to buy off the rack, and almost nobody says so. Its whole silhouette depends on where the hem rib sits and how much room is in the body. Two inches too long and it reads as a generic blouson. Two inches too short and it rides up every time you raise your arms. Cut too full and the ribbing gathers into a balloon at your waist; cut too slim and you cannot wear anything heavier than a t-shirt underneath.
None of that is a fault in the jacket. It is a fault in fitting one pattern to thousands of different torsos. A made-to-measure bomber fixes the proportion problem at the root, because the hem lands where it should on your body and the body is cut for the layers you actually wear.

The spec sheet
Shape and proportion
Body length and where the waistband rib sits. Overall cut, from close through to a relaxed vintage volume. Sleeve length, and how much taper runs from bicep to cuff. Shoulder width and whether the shoulder is set-in or dropped.
Ribbing
The rib knit at the collar, cuffs and hem is a design decision in its own right. Choose its depth, and whether it matches the leather or contrasts with it — a striped or tonal rib changes the character of the jacket completely.
Leather and colour
Full-grain, top-grain, lambskin, sheepskin, cowhide, goatskin, suede or shearling, in the colour you specify. Send a reference image or swatch and we will match it as closely as the hide allows.
Details
Zip style and hardware finish. Pocket configuration — slash handwarmers, welt pockets, a sleeve pocket, and how many interior pockets and where. Lining material and colour, including a contrast lining nobody sees but you. Personalisation where you want it.
Measuring for a bomber
Wear what you will normally wear underneath before you pick up the tape — a bomber over a shirt and a bomber over a thick hoodie are two different jackets. Then get five numbers:
- Chest, around the fullest part, tape level, arms down.
- Shoulder, seam point to seam point across the back.
- Sleeve, from the shoulder point down a slightly bent arm to the wrist bone.
- Waist, at the height where you want the hem rib to sit — this is the measurement that defines the jacket.
- Back length, from the base of the neck to that same hem point.

Which hide suits the shape
Bombers live or die on drape, so the hide matters more than usual. Lambskin is soft and light and falls beautifully from the shoulder — the easy choice for a jacket you want comfortable immediately. Goatskin gives you a lightly pebbled surface and real toughness without much extra weight. Cowhide is the heavyweight: structured, hard-wearing, and it will take a few weeks to soften, which some people specifically want. Suede makes a softer, more casual bomber. - You send measurements; we confirm the finished dimensions back to you.
- Your hide is cut and the jacket is handcrafted to order.
- It ships in roughly 3–5 weeks. Delivery inside the USA is free by express courier; overseas costs are worked out at checkout.
Questions worth asking first
What if the fit is not right when it arrives?
A made-to-measure jacket is cut for one person, so it does not fall under the standard 7-day return window that covers stock pieces. Custom orders follow different terms, and in practice that means alteration rather than refund. Tell us what needs changing and we will work with you to correct it. It is also why we confirm the finished measurements with you before cutting.
Can you copy a jacket I already own?
We can work from photographs and measurements of a garment you like as a reference for proportions. Say clearly that the numbers are garment measurements, not body measurements, so we do not add ease twice.
Is 3–5 weeks firm?
It is the normal window. An unusual colour or hide can add time, and we will tell you before you commit rather than afterwards.
Does the guarantee still apply?
The stitching is guaranteed for life, as on everything we make by hand.
