Custom Windbreaker Jackets
The windbreaker is a shape rather than a material: a light, wind-cutting layer with some body to it, worn open over a t-shirt or zipped against a cold morning. Made in leather it becomes considerably better than the nylon original — the same easy silhouette, the same elastic hem and cuffs, but with a hide that blocks wind properly, drapes with weight, and looks better in year five than year one.
Made-to-measure matters here for a specific reason. A windbreaker is meant to be roomy, and "roomy" is what off-the-rack sizing handles worst. Size up for the body you want and the shoulders drop halfway down your arm; take your true size and the relaxed cut disappears. Cut to your measurements, the shoulder sits correctly and the body is as generous as you like. Those stop being a trade-off.
Where the design decisions are
- Collar — a stand-up funnel that zips to the chin, a soft fold-down band, or a hood.
- Hood — fixed, detachable by zip or studs, drawcord-adjustable, or left off entirely.
- Cuffs and hem — elasticated or ribbed for the classic blouson shape, or a drawcord hem you can cinch.
- Fit and length — genuinely oversized through relaxed to trim; cropped at the waist, standard, or longer over the hip.
- Front — exposed zip, covered placket, or half-zip pullover.
- Pockets — angled hand-warmers, zipped side pockets, a chest pocket, interior security pockets.
- Panels and colour — colour-blocked panels or contrast sleeves for the sporty look, plus your shade throughout.
- Lining and hardware — light for spring and autumn or quilted for colder weather; zip pulls and studs in polished, matte black, brushed or antiqued finishes.
Getting the fit you actually want for your windbreaker
The most helpful thing you can do is tell us how the jacket should feel, not just what your chest measures. "Chest 42, but loose enough to wear over a hoodie" gives us far more to work with than the number alone, because the ease we add depends entirely on that intention.
Take your chest around the fullest point with the tape level, shoulder from seam point across the back to the other, sleeve from that shoulder point to the wrist with the arm slightly bent, and body length from the base of the neck to where you want the hem. One note on elastic hems: the jacket blouses above them, so a ribbed-hem windbreaker always looks shorter and fuller than a straight-hemmed jacket of the same length. Tell us where the elastic should sit and we will account for it.
Leather that suits a light jacket
Weight is the whole conversation here. Too heavy and it stops being a windbreaker.
- Lambskin — soft, light and fluid, the most natural fit for this silhouette. Least abrasion-resistant, so it suits a jacket that gets worn rather than worked in.
- Sheepskin — supple and lightweight with a soft hand, another good match for a relaxed cut.
- Goatskin — the practical pick. Light and supple but genuinely durable, with a subtle pebbled grain that shrugs off scuffs.
- Suede — matte and casual, excellent for a colour-blocked or retro-styled version, though most vulnerable to rain.
- Cowhide or full-grain — possible, and it will outlast everything else, but the result is a substantial jacket rather than a light one. Choose it deliberately.
Worth saying plainly: leather resists wind very well but is not a waterproof shell. It handles a shower; it is not a rain jacket, and we would rather tell you now. The hide comparison covers how each behaves in practice.

Can I return it if I change my mind? for your windbreaker
Standard-size orders have a 7-day return window. A jacket cut to your own measurements does not — custom orders follow different terms, and we handle problems through alterations rather than refunds. It is set out on our shipping and returns page, and it is why we agree the spec in writing first.
Can I make it warmer?
Yes. A quilted or heavier lining turns the same silhouette into a three-season jacket without changing the outside. Say so at the design stage, since the lining affects how much room the body needs.
Is a hood really practical in leather?
It works, but a leather hood is stiffer and holds more shape than a nylon one. Many people prefer a detachable hood for exactly that reason — you get the option without living with it permanently.
