A leather vest gives you the attitude of a leather jacket without the sleeves, which makes it one of the most useful transitional pieces you can own. Our women's leather vests suit the in-between weeks of spring and autumn, layering over a knit or shirt when a full jacket is too warm but you still want a defined outer layer.

The cuts

Most of the collection leans moto and biker: cropped through the body, often with a zip front, snap details, or a notched collar that echoes a classic riding jacket. These read sharp over slim denim or a dress. Softer, more relaxed shapes and dip-and-dye finishes offer a looser drape for a less structured look. The right cut depends on whether you want the vest to add edge and structure or to layer quietly.

Leathers

Sheepskin and goatskin are the workhorses here. Sheepskin is supple and lightweight with a smooth, even surface that drapes close to the body. Goatskin is a touch firmer with a subtle natural grain, so it holds a moto shape well and stands up to regular wear. Distressed finishes start with lived-in character and only look better with time.

How to wear and choose

  • Open: worn open over a fitted knit or tee, a vest lengthens the line and frames the outfit.
  • Belted: cinch a relaxed vest at the waist to carve out a clearer silhouette.
  • Fit: allow enough room across the shoulders and bust to layer over a light sweater without straining the closure.

Care

Wipe with a soft dry cloth, let it air rather than storing it damp, and condition once or twice a year to keep the leather supple. Hang on a shaped hanger so the shoulders keep their line. For full-sleeve options, see our women's biker leather jackets and women's leather jackets, or read the leather vest guide.
