Custom Messenger & Laptop Bags
"Fits most 15-inch laptops" is the least useful phrase in bag retail. A 15-inch machine in a hard case is a different object from a bare ultrabook, and both differ again from the 16-inch replacement you'll buy in two years. Generic compartments are sized to a range, so they're loose on almost everything - and a laptop that slides around inside a bag is a laptop taking knocks it doesn't need.
A custom laptop messenger removes the guesswork. Give us the machine, the padding you want around it, and everything else that travels with it. We build the bag around that.
Building around the machine
The most useful thing you can send is your laptop's exact dimensions in millimetres, from the manufacturer's spec page or measured with the lid closed. Then tell us:
- Whether it lives in a sleeve or case
- Whether the compartment should be snug or leave room to upgrade
- Whether the laptop should sit in a dedicated padded sleeve inside the bag, or in a padded rear section against your back
- What travels alongside it - charger, mouse, tablet, notebooks, documents, cables, a water bottle
That last point drives gusset depth more than anything else. A power brick and a folder of A4 add real thickness, and it's better to design for them than force the flap shut every morning.
Protection you can specify
Padding is a decision, not a default. Ask for a heavily padded sleeve for a machine that goes everywhere, or minimal padding for a slimmer bag. Corners, base and rear panel can be reinforced independently, and we can raise the base with protective feet if you set the bag down on pavements - that's where laptop bags usually die first.
The rest of the specification
- Hide - full-grain cowhide for durability and structure, top-grain for a smoother business finish, goatskin for a lighter bag that still takes punishment
- Colour and edge finish - contrast or matching stitch, painted edges
- Closure - flap with buckles, magnetic snaps for one-handed access, or a zip top for security on public transport
- Organisation - card and pen slots, zipped internal pocket, cable pockets, rear slip pocket, luggage pass-through sleeve
- Strap - width, drop length, detachable or fixed, padded if you carry a heavy machine daily
- Hardware - solid buckles, D-rings and clips in brass, gunmetal, nickel or black
- Personalisation - blind-embossed initials, where applicable

How it gets made
- Brief. Your laptop model or dimensions, your daily carry list, and any bag you'd like it to resemble.
- Spec. Exact internal and external dimensions, padding, pocket layout, hide, colour, hardware and strap length. Nothing is cut until you approve it.
- Build. Panels cut from your hide, padded sections constructed, edges finished, bag hand-assembled.
- Delivery. Made-to-order bags typically take around 3-5 weeks. Delivery is complimentary and expedited across the USA; overseas rates arrive at checkout.
Weight is a real trade-off
Worth saying plainly: heavier hide, full lining and thick padding make a better-protected bag and a heavier one. Add a laptop and charger and the difference tells on a long commute. If you carry daily, say so and we'll steer towards a lighter build; if the bag mostly moves between car and desk, structure can win instead.

Will it still fit if I change laptops?
Only if we design for it. Say so at the brief stage and we'll add an allowance so a slightly larger machine still seats properly. A compartment cut tight to one model won't take a bigger one later.
Can I return a custom laptop bag?
Custom orders are excluded from the standard 7-day window - the bag is dimensioned for your setup and can't be resold. Issues are resolved through alteration rather than refund, which is why we confirm every dimension in writing first. See shipping and returns.
Is leather sensible for a laptop bag in the rain?
Leather handles weather better than people expect, but it isn't waterproof and neither is a stitched seam. If you commute on foot or by bike in wet climates, ask about a tighter-grained hide and keep the machine in a sleeve. See the leather care guide.
